To promote excellence in Oncology Nursing by: promoting the highest professional standards of oncology nursing, studying, researching, and exchanging information, experiences, and ideas leading to improved oncology nursing; encouraging nurses to specialize in the practice of oncology nursing; fostering the professional development of oncology nurses, individually and collectively; fostering a culturally diverse organization that is responsible to the changing needs of ONS members and the populations they represent and serve.


  1. Maintain an organizational structure and philosophy that is responsive to the changing needs of the membership
  2. To facilitate recruitment and retention of nurses and associate members interested in Oncology and related fields.
  3. To promote the awareness of Oncology nursing in the Siouxland region.
  4. To promote educational opportunities for nurses to maintain the highest professional standard in Oncology nursing.
  5. To provide planned activities for the enhancement of networking among members.
  6. To increase member involvement in both local and national ONS activities.
  7. To offer national membership scholarships to those who need financial assistance.
